On April 28, the RBA joined more than 60 other organizations in providing testimony on forced labor to a panel of U.S. government colleagues including USTR, Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Labor, and the Small Business Administration. In its testimony, the RBA emphasized that combating forced labor requires a risk-based, evidence-driven approach that strengthens supply chain transparency and remediation while avoiding measures that unintentionally disrupt responsible businesses. The RBA, speaking directly to its expertise on forced labor work, urged U.S. policymakers to align enforcement with due diligence schemes in sync with international standards and partner with industry to improve responsible business conduct outcomes.
